Building Scalable BESS Infrastructure Across Central & Eastern Europe

SIDO Power develops an infrastructure platform for battery energy storage systems (BESS) across Central and Eastern Europe, including Austria, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

The platform connects project developers, industrial partners, technology suppliers and leasing companies in a standardized ecosystem that enables the scalable deployment of battery storage infrastructure.

SIDO does not operate as an asset owner. Instead, the company follows an asset-light platform model focused on project structuring, financing coordination and technical monitoring of battery assets.

Battery storage is becoming one of the key enabling technologies of the energy transition

The European energy system is undergoing a fundamental transformation driven by the rapid expansion of renewable energy, the electrification of transport and the growing adoption of electric heating technologies such as heat pumps.

As solar PV capacity continues to grow and electricity demand becomes increasingly electrified, power generation and consumption patterns are becoming significantly more volatile.

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are therefore emerging as a critical infrastructure technology that enables energy flexibility, supports grid stability and facilitates the large-scale integration of renewable energy sources. As a result, battery storage is becoming one of the most important enabling technologies of the energy transition.

A structured framework for financing, deploying and managing BESS projects

SIDO Power operates a platform model designed to enable the scalable deployment of battery energy storage systems across Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic. The platform integrates project developers, technology suppliers, industrial partners and financial institutions within a standardized framework that simplifies the development and financing of battery storage projects.

Unlike traditional energy developers, SIDO does not own or operate the energy assets. Instead, the company follows an asset-light model focused on structuring projects, coordinating financing and managing battery systems throughout their lifecycle.

How the Platform Works

The SIDO platform integrates project developers, technology suppliers, industrial partners and financial institutions within a standardized framework that simplifies the development and financing of battery storage projects.

The SIDO platform provides the following key Services:

The platform links developers, industrial counterparties, suppliers and financial institutions within one coherent deployment framework.

    • Project Structuring
    • Technology Aggregation
    • Leasing Financing Preparation
    • Technical Monitoring
    • Portfolio Asset Management

Integrated services across the full lifecycle of battery storage projects

The SIDO platform provides a set of integrated services that cover the entire lifecycle of battery energy storage projects — from technology procurement and project structuring to long-term monitoring and asset management.

These products and services are designed to reduce the complexity of developing battery storage projects and to create a standardized framework that enables scalable deployment of BESS infrastructure.

    Procurement

SIDO organizes centralized procurement of battery energy storage technology for projects connected to the platform. By aggregating demand across multiple projects, SIDO is able to negotiate improved pricing with technology suppliers, standardize technical solutions and simplify project implementation.

      Leasing Structuring

A core function of the platform is preparing projects for financing through leasing companies. SIDO structures the technical documentation, financial model and contractual framework required for leasing-based financing of battery storage assets. This standardized structure enables financial institutions to evaluate and finance BESS projects more efficiently.

        Take-Back Structuring

SIDO provides a structured framework that addresses the residual value risk of battery systems. Through the Take-Back mechanism, the platform can organize the return of battery assets and prepare them for redeployment in new projects if required. This mechanism significantly reduces technological risk for financial partners.

          Monitoring

The platform provides continuous technical monitoring of battery systems during their operational lifetime. Monitoring enables real-time performance tracking, technical diagnostics and transparent reporting for project partners and financial institutions. Through the integration of advanced monitoring technologies such as BatteryCheck, SIDO ensures operational transparency and reliability of battery assets.

            Re-Deployment

One of the unique features of the platform is the ability to redeploy battery systems across different projects. If a project ends or operational conditions change, the battery system can be relocated or reused in another project within the platform portfolio. This significantly improves asset utilization and helps create a secondary market for battery storage systems.

              Revenue Stabilisation Product (RSP)

Battery storage revenues are often linked to short-term electricity markets and ancillary service markets, which can lead to volatile cash flows. The Revenue Stabilisation Product (RSP) developed within the platform helps stabilize project revenues through optimized market participation and diversified revenue streams. This improves the bankability of battery storage projects and facilitates financing by leasing companies and financial institutions.

Leasing-based financing for scalable battery infrastructure deployment

SIDO projects are designed to be financed primarily through leasing companies, enabling scalable deployment of battery energy storage infrastructure without requiring significant upfront capital from project partners.

                Structure

                  1. The leasing company finances the battery technology

                  2. The Investor, project partner operates the battery system

                  3. SIDO structures the project and provides technical monitoring

This structure allows battery systems to be financed as technological infrastructure assets while ensuring operational transparency and long-term asset management. By combining standardized project structures, technical monitoring and asset portfolio management, the SIDO platform significantly reduces the technological and operational risks typically associated with battery storage projects. As a result, battery energy storage systems can be financed in a similar way to other long-life technological assets such as railway locomotives, industrial equipment or energy infrastructure.

A growing battery storage pipeline across Central and Eastern Europe

The SIDO platform is supported by a growing pipeline of battery energy storage projects across Central and Eastern Europe.
